Plan ahead to avoid Karangahake Gorge closures
Resurfacing work, which will close the Karangahake Gorge for a number of nights, has been postponed and will now get underway on Sunday 16 October.
The road will be closed from 8pm-5am each night. The last closure will be Thursday night so the road can re-open 5am Friday for Labour weekend.
Works will recommence the night of Sunday 30 October if contractors cannot complete the resurfacing due to wet weather or other unavoidable circumstances; this will be confirmed closer to the time.
The Karangahake Gorge resurfacing has been delayed due to pavement rehabilitation and surfacing works on State Highway 27 (Firth Street) in Matamata requiring an extension into next week.
This information updates the previous traffic bulletin for roadworks published on October 3.
