GO Waihi
Our Mission Statement:
‘To promote the Waihi area, successfully and professionally, as an attractive and unique place to live, work and visit.’
The History behind GO Waihi
The Waihi area boundaries, include Whiritoa Beach, Waikino, Karangahake Gorge, Waimata and Waihi.
GO Waihi was formed in 1997, in an effort to revitalise the central business district and to provide a stimulus to improve the economic viability of our town. This was achieved through a Mainstreet programme and through events and promotions developed for Waihi under the guidance and assistance of the Hauraki District Council, local businesses and Community Groups.
GO Waihi’s continued objective is to help put the ingredients together that link Business and Community ensuring they both benefit.
GO Waihi are there to assist in increasing visitor numbers by promoting the Waihi area local events, Businesses, and Community interest groups to a wider audience.
GO Waihi’s role in the Community involves a wide range of activities, including:
- Liaising with the Hauraki District Council to ensure, where possible, any decisions made regarding community improvements will benefit the Community and Businesses
- Collaborating with similar local and regional groups in achieving and enhancing Community Connections such as Positive Paeroa and Destination Coromandel, Waihi Beach, and Katikati.
- Involving as many individuals as active participants in the Community
- Planning and discussing local event initiatives, to writing sponsorship proposals and managing events.
GO Waihi, with the Community efforts, will show that Golden Opportunities abound in Waihi and together we can make a difference.
